Nets that kill resistant mosquitoes

2015 to todayOngoing

Benin, Côte d'Ivoire and Tanzania

Chlorfenapyr kills mosquitoes by disrupting their energy production, so pyrethroid resistance does not protect them. From adapted laboratory tests to hut trials and a three-arm cluster randomised trial in Côte d'Ivoire, these studies follow the new generation of nets.

Results

  • In Benin, Interceptor G2 killed 71% of resistant mosquitoes against 20% for a standard net, and still 65% after 20 washesPLoS ONE, 2016
  • At M'bé in Côte d'Ivoire, PRONet Duo killed 84% of mosquitoes against 72% for Interceptor G2Frontiers in Malaria, 2025
